The tallit is a prayer shawl worn during morning services. Although only married men have to wear the tallit, it is customary for men over the age of Bar Mitzvah to wear them.  The tallit may be laid over the marriage canopy or be used as a burial shroud. Before putting on the tallit a prayer is said: "Blessed are You, O Eternal our God, Ruler of the universe, Who has sanctified us with your commandments, and commanded us to wrap ourselves in the fringed garment." The tallit is worn by most on the shoulders, while very religious Jews may wear it on their head. The tallit can be made of wool, cotton, or silk and is knotted on its four corners in accordance with the Biblical law.

A handwoven tallit is truly unique. Made from a special blend of silk and hand spun cotton, the tallit is heavenly soft and luxurious without being heavy. These are made in small batches and no two are exactly the same.

Zrichah, the Hebrew word for sunrise, is for people looking to wrap themselves in glorious color as they pray. The tallit has a creamy white background is striped with lovely reds, oranges and yellows. 40% silk/60% hand spun cotton. The shawl size is 24" x 78". That tallit gadol size is 47" x 78", and is a great size to use as a chuppah or wedding tallit. Both come with a handmade bag to store your tallit.

We use certified Kosher wool tzitzit made in Israel. We send your tallit with tzitzit which are already tied, however, we offer the option to tie them yourself. Many of our bar/bat mitzvah customers prefer to do this mitzvah together as a family--we will supply detailed instructions as well as the tzitzit strings if you choose this option.
