Hanukkah Candles

Jews all over the world light Hanukkah candles on each of the eight nights of Hanukkah to commemorate the miraculous victory of the small Jewish army led by Matathias and his son Judah the Maccabee over the tyrant king Antiochus and his Greek army. Upon reaching the recently desecrated holy Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, the Jews found a small flask of oil olive that had not been defiled and used it to rekindle the Menorah. Today we kindle the Chanukah menorah with candles for eight days to commemorate that great and miraculous event
