Mishkenot Sha'ananim was the first Jewish neighborhood outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, built by Moses Montefiore, at the end of the 19th century.
Obverse: This striking design provides a view of Jerusalem from "Mishkenot Sha'ananim" to the Walls of the Old City. To the right is the Tower of David beside Jaffa Gate. Pictured in the foreground are typical houses of the neighborhood with their arched windows, tiled roofs and alleyways. To the left is the famous windmill built by Montefiore, which stands out on the Jerusalem landscape.
Common Reverse of the Series: Lion of Jerusalem and prominent buildings of Jerusalem, within the outline of a coat of arms.
