Handmade Hamsa Wall & Window Hanging - By Sara Beams

The Jewish name for the Hamsa is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to Miriam, the sister of Moses.  In the Muslim community, it is interpreted as the hand of Fatima, the youngest daughter of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.  For Hindus and Buddhists, it symbolizes chakras, energy flow in the body, the five senses, and the mudras that affect them.  The Hamsa hand has always been associated with a female entity offering protection from evil and misfortune.

This Hamsa can be hung on a wall or in front of a window, with the hand pointing up or down. This piece is laser cut in baltic birch and then finished with a high-quality lacquer.  The wood ring and brass hook are included for easy hanging.  The piece arrives in a gift box with an information card included.

Sarah Beams - Artists Declaration

I was one of those kids who preferred to spend her time in a pottery studio or creating things with my hands. In college, I discovered working with glass. Whatever form of glass making I encountered, from cold (stained glass), to hot (blown) or warm (kiln fired), the incredible quality glass had to capture and transmit light truly captivated me.
As a result, I have been creating fused glass for many years, designing and making Jewish Ritual Objects and Home Accessories. One of the things I love about creating Ritual Objects is knowing that people all over the world are welcoming my pieces into their homes and their families. It is connecting with people, but on an even more personal level, as they bear my creations next to their hearts.
