Miriam, the sister of Moses and Araon, after crossing the Red Sea, tambourine in hand, led the Israelite women in a victory dance. She is one of the leaders of the Jewish people and has become a prominent symbol for Jewish feminist as a spiritual leader. In this colorful matzah tray, the ribbons flow from the tambourine in the spirit of song and dance.
Each piece of stained glass in this tzedakah box has been hand cut, foiled in copper, and soldered to form the shape of the matzah holder. The figure of Miriam has been sandblasted and then fire polished in the kiln the create the vibrant iridescent colors.
