Real Comfort

Inscribed: "There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" with Jane Austen's signature, the book title, Emma, and a small engraving of Jane Austen's home. The much admired and beloved Jane Austen, in writing Emma over 200 years ago, was a quiet revolutionary. The novel is written from the point of view of Emma, which is natural enough, and one could easily say that it is simply another English novel until one realizes that Emma does not have a rational perspective. Austen plays with the change in perspective between how Emma views village life and what it actually happening with much delight and humor.
