Spelling was inconsistent in the 17th Century and is rendered here as found on the original ring: 'yours onli' rather than 'yours only'. The sentiment of heartfelt devotion is the same regardless of how the words are spelled. The 17th century gold original of this poesy ring was handmade and is now in the British Museum. The delicate interlacing pattern engraved on the outside is in the Celtic style.
