Inscribed: "I can resist everything except temptation" with Oscar Wilde's signature from his play Lady Windermere's Fan (1892) Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde was born in Ireland in 1854. He studied at Trinity College Dublin and Magdalen College Oxford. Wilde came into his own with the theatrical success's of Lady Windemere's Fan, A Woman of No Importance (1893) and an Ideal Husband (1895). He was one of the best-known personalities of his day.
