Description
Targum Onkelos — the translation of the Chumash into Aramaic by Onkelos — is so important that the Sages included it in the tradition of reading the weekly Chumash portion “shnayim mikra v’echad Targum —the Torah text twice and Targum Onkelos once.” Targum Onkelos appears next to the text of the Chumash in many editions and is often cited by Rashi.
